Knocking noise from front offside suspension, but only when turning left. The suspension is fine other than that fault. The garage initially said there was no problem with the ball joints but now, even though they say there is no play, they now suspect the ball joint!!
It doesn't make sense to me

Hello,

Typically, you will get suspension popping noise due to worn bushings. It could be any number of worn busing that care create that noise.
It could be from the control arm, sway bar, ball joints etc.

The best course of action would be to inspect the component and check all the bushings for excessive play.

Here is a helpful guide:

Got through the guide and report back to what you find or if you have any questions.
Thank you.
