My car (Ford Fiesta mk5) had a flat battery and when trying to jump start it my uncle placed the wires on the wrong connections. It now will not do anything at all, no lights. No central locking. Etc. My mum went to a mechanic and was told you the ECU was fried and would take £1000 to fix. This quote was also the same from the ford garage, but when speaking to a mechanic friend I was advised this is not the case, and I could use a second hand ECU which obviously would be cheaper. I'm so confused as when looking online, there are so many different types of ECU for airbags, engines, etc. And I am just in need of some help and advice. Please.
