Hi, I've just replaced rear brake shoes, I slackened the shoe adjusters off to there minimum,
The handbrake cables are free & easy, handbrake has not been adjusted yet, so the brakes are off at there minimum.
I've put the brake drums back on, one side is ok, the offside is free until I tighten up the hub screw when it becomes much much stiffer & at a certain point impossible to rotate? With the wheels on the nearside is ok, the offside is locked like seized? I've done this job so many times on other cars but never come across this before? Hope someone can help, Thanks Stuart.

Recheck the shoe installation and adjuster. Either could be off position causing the ptoblem.

DON'T TELL ME YOU HAVE TURNED IN YOUR CORE!

IF SO, YOU HAVE NOW LEARNED THAT THE CORE DON'T GO BACK 'TIL EVERYTHING WORKS PROPERLY. SOMETIMES THE OLD STUFF WAS "SPECIAL" AND IS NOW SHIPPED OFF TO SANTA'S ELVES TO REBUILD 'EM. AND YOU NOW HAVE NOTHING TO GAUGE BY!

IF YOU STILL GOT THE OLD SHOES. COMPARE THE WIDTHS OF THE PADS/ AND METAL P0RTION. AT THE PARTS STORES, PEOPLE SOMETIMES PLAY "MUSICAL BOXES" WHEN THEY HAVE 3 DIFFERENT SETS OPEN AND SCATTERED ON THE COUNTER

I DON'T KNOW YOUR SPECIFIC VEHICLE

DO YOU HAVE THE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SHOES INSTALLED ----ONE SET PER WHEEL---PRIMARY SHOE NEAREST TO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE?

SHOES ARE CENTERED?

E-BRAKE STUFF/ SPRINGS ARE IN THE CORRECT HOLE/ DID NOT MIX UP ONE SIDE'S GOODIES WITH THE OTHER SIDE?

IT'S DARN EZ TO SEND PICS HERE. MAYBE A FEW SHOTS AT DIFFERENT ANGLES, WITH GOOD LIGHT, MIGHT LET US MAYBE IDENTIFY A PROBLEM YOU OVER LOOKED?
