Service engine soon light illuminated. Repair shop checked the code which was: op741----torque converter lock up stuck off. Test drove---- no problem at time of test drive. Cleared codes-no fault
at this time. I was on the oregon coast 600 miles from home so headed home(boise, idaho). At approx. 75 miles the service engine soon light came on. I drove another 175 miles. The light went off and remained off the remaining 350 miles. My question is-- is arepair required? If so what is it? I am planning on selling the car as soon possible. Thanks for any advise you can provide.

Interesting, I live in PA and know a Joe Piscione. Lol

Anyway, what you need to do is scan the computer when the light is on to determine if the same code is still an issue or something different has come up.

As far as needing replaced, the code indicates the transmission control module (TCM) has detected a fault with the circuit that operates the torque converter clutch solenoid (TCC). As far as performance, it really shouldn't be noticed other than a decrease in fuel economy.
