Can you explaine what is happening? When you say power surges, are you refering to the engine or electrical system?

it happens when you come to a stop or at an idle the car will have a rough idle we have replaced the timing belt but its throwing a code say cam shaft over advance could the problem lay with the solenoid on the intake camshaft? (note: after we replaced the timing belt the car ran fine for over a week then suddenly started doing it again?
