I'm buying a corsa 1.2 sxi 2002 tomorrow. It has had a engine repair where it lost compression. After the repair, it made a ticking noise, but the mechanic said it will get less and less over time. Apparently, it's been driven for 4000 miles and the ticking noise is getting less and less, only now when idling. Should I go ahead with buying it, does this sound right?

Hi,
A ticking noise indicates excessive clearance in something, and in 37 years of being a tech, I have yet to encounter a clearance issue that healed itself. Excessive clearance causes premature wear, which causes more clearance..... you get the idea. I would be wary of any ticking after engine work, let alone if it were to be still present after 4000 miles.
Caveat emptor, my friend. Doc
