car off, shifter locked in reverse, reverse lights come on, not starting

Yeah-Yeah, Thats what I asked my wife, It's in our garage, she had just got home and was getting stuff from the trunk. I noticed it was rolling back and forth.
I just found the cable,on top of the tranny has popped off the arm. I was able to pull the arm back some to catch the cable eye back on. Car started right up, and shifts through gears, but I am able to easily pop it back off with a finger.
Is there supposed to be a keeper on the eye part of the cable?

Just to add to this one i dont remember there being one on that car.I belive it just snaps on the arms ball if there is no groove for the clip to sit in then there is no clip.If its just a ball like i remember then there is no clip.
