My catalytic converter was taken and now my car runs terribly, what can i do?

I went to get some work done on my exhaust by a "friend of a friend" (terrible idea) and he took my catalytic converter. I can't afford a new one and I can't find this guy. What can I do to get my car running better until I have money for a new cc?

All you can do is replace the "CC". There is no other way to get your car running normally again. These are integral parts of the engine management systems. Sorry to give you the bad news.
