Hello,
This can happen due to a worn or broken component inside the lock cylinder.
Other possibility that something got stuck inside the cylinder.
In order to replace the ignition lock cylinder, the steering wheel needs to be removed.
Remember that the air bag inflator module should always be pointed away from your body and should always be laid on a flat surface with the urethane side up.

Keep in mind that before the lock cylinder gets replaced, the new part will need to be re-keyed to your existing key in order for it to work.
