My vehicle began running hot out of nowhere yesterday evening. I had to pull over because the gauge went all the way up to H. I sat for about 10 mins and tried to crank it acted like it didn't wanna crank up once it did I began traveling again. Not even 5 mind later it ran hot again. I put water into it because it was low thinking that is what it was and began traveling again. It still ran hot again and I had a difficult time trying to crank it back up. Also I realized that my heat stopped working and when I let the hood up to the car the motor was making a strange noise. I thought the car was going to cut off. I'm just really curious to know what made my car do this out of nowhere it has been working perfectly fine. I just purchased this car a week ago. I got someone to check my oil that's perfectly fine. Could you please give me some answers. Thanks.

You may haved had a small coolant leak somewhere to start with but I wouldn't be surprised if you have done serious internal damage now from getting it hot. It only takes once. Your first step is to get the system full and have it pressure tested for leaks.

I didn't let it get completely up to the gauge once I saw it getting close to the hot gauge I would simply pull over till cooled off then drive it again do you still think it's serious internal damage? I tried to crank it again after I put more water in it today and I let it run for quite some time and it didn't start to run move up until I tried to drive it that's when I noticed my heat wasn't working. I tried to turn on the heat when it was sitting still and the gauge hadn't moved up when I tried the heat
