I have a 2002 ford f250 powerstroke and I put tape on the aftermarket air intake that came with the truck because it is junk and keeps falling off my question is I had the tape get sucked into the turbo and now my truck sounds like a jet engine taking off I am pretty got with my hands but it seems like a lot of work to take the turbo off I have been told that it will not hurt the truck but it never use to make noises like this befor what could cause this noise and can it be fixed or am I going to need to buy a new turbo I am very scared about this because this truck is still being paid on and I don't want a 20,000$ paper weight sitting in my driveway

If you are real lucky you might be able to take the air intake off the turbo and get the tape out that you put on your air cleaner, otherwise you'll either have to like the jet sound or wait til the turbo goes bad if it's a 6.0 L which it will eventually.

It is not a 6.0 it is a 7.3 and I believe the noise is coming from all of my compressor fins being dog eared I am going to get a new compressor wheel in a week or two. Should I let the truck sit and drive my wife's car or can I putt around town in it. I don't believe any other damage has been done because the shaft that my compressor wheel sits on is not sloppy so the journal bearings are not going out the only other thing that it could do is make it past the intercooler and that is highly unlikely due to the fact that there is not enough air speed going through it to make the tape go through the engine and if u had read my question right u would no that I said it was an 2002 and the 6.0 was not introduced until half way through 2003

Sounds like the damage has alredy been done so it shouldn't hurt it anymore other than it is probably down on power a little.

The strange thing is that it did not hurt the boost but it does spool up a lot quicker
