2002 Fiat Punto Engine misfire

Hi.
I have a fiat punto 2002, 1.2 8V. The car has a problem which sounds misfire to me on idle running or upto 1500 RPM. On high revs, it works perfect. I have changed the spark plugs, cleaned the fuel system and got it serviced but still it wont run smooth when idle. Also it takes a deep breath when I release the clutch on low revs < 1500 and sometimes the engine just dies.

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Have you checked to make sure the fuel pressure is within the manufacturer's specs?

I have been to a mechanic and he cleaned all the fuel pipes and fuel pump as well but I am not sure about the pressure. Also could it be a problem in carburetor or any other issue with the electric supply to spark plugs or ignition coils.

A carb? It should be fuel injected, correct? And yes, it could be any of the things you mentioned.
