I just bought a 2002 dodge neon today I drove it for about 15 to 20 miles. Just a little bit ago I was going to the store car was running fine. All the sudden the car reved up while it was in gear so I pulled over put it in park. Then put it back in drive and it did the same thing just reved up there also was a clanging noise coming from the transmission. So I put it back in park got out took the air box off and made sure the shifter was moving and its is.I put the air box back on started it back up and it went in gear and I was able to drive it. It still was making the noise a little bit. It also made the trans. Light come on. Now when I bought the var the transmission light was on.I thought it was on because the trans. Fluid was a Lil low so I put some in and a eventually it went out but came back on after it started messing up. The car also needs two motor mounts I don't know if that would cause it or not. Someone told me that it sounds to them that its the flywheel. Can someone please help me. Thank you.

Have the computer scanned to determine what trouble codes are present. If the warning lights are on, the codes will be present and point you in the direction of the problem.

I took it today when I left it was running fine went to auto zone they told me code p0700 came up that is the transmission control module and some other code came up something about a silonied in the transmission. So when I left there to go home about a mile up the road it started doing the same thing it teved up like it was in neutral but it was in drive so I pulled over shout it off and tryed to start it again and now it won't start it sounds like the starter is cranking but the motor isn't. Do you think them codes are my problem. Or do I need a new trans

I also found some more codes that are pointing me to the transmission control module, the codes are. These are all the codes that came up p0700 trans control mod p0715 turbine shaft speed sensor p0720 output speed sensor p0750 shift solenoid. Would the transmission control module make all them codes come up.I thought if the trans control module was bad its not telling them codesnto work.I hope thatsbwhat it is

It sounds like there are several problems with the transmission. As far as the no start, that isn't the result of the transmission problems.

I think I found out what's wrong with it. Well at least why it won't start.I think the torque converter is bad. The reason why is today I got under the car and took the dust pan off of the bottom of the transmission and the flywheel is turning over but the cranks isn't or any of the accery belts either. Either that or the motor locked up. And if it is the torque converter do you think it would be easier to just change the transmission. To marrow I'm gonna try to turn the motor over by hand and if it does then I'm gonna drop the transmission and take a look at the torque converter

Are you saying the flywheel is turning, but the crank pulley and none of the belt driven accessories are turning? If that is the case, is the flywheel still bolted to the crank? Are you sure the crank pulley at the front of the engine isn't turning?

Well I finally fixed the problem. After dropping the transmission I found out that the flywheel had broke right were the bolts go through to the cranks there was a break all the way around. So the flywheel was moving cause it wasn't attached to the crank.I changed it and it started right up its running good. There's still one little thing its doing. It is running fine but it seems to me that when I am coming to a stop it feels like it is slipping in. And it only does it when you come to a stop. It doesn't slip if your giving it gas. So today I put my obd 2 on it and two codes came up p0700 and p0750 could the p0750 make that do that and would it make the other code come up p0700
