I was the guy with the ECM problem on this same vehicle back in March/April of this year.
I found a company, CarComputerExchange. Com that actually rebuilds ECM units, tests them, and even pre-programs them for your vehicle with VIN and mileage, so all you have to do is plug it in, and it works.
This is not an advertisement, and I do not receive any referral moneys. I just thought others might want to know of this place. It took me a while to find them, and they sent me a rebuilt, tested, and warranted ECM for less then then what I was being quoted by junk yards.
I got my ECM unit, and when I plugged it in, the Durango started right up!
Only problem is that the ABS light started flashing, and the "attention ding" started dinging, about every second.
I called the ECM company above, and they said the ABS is controlled by the body computer, not the ECM, and it may be a wiring problem. Only thing is that there was not ABS problem before the ECM went bad, and the Durango has just been sitting there. HOWEVER, I did have an ASC mechanic friend work on it, and I don't know what he might have done that could have caused the problem.
I checked the fuses, (there are 2 for the ABS, one in the engine compartment, and one in the fuse box on the left side of the console) and they were both good.
I took the Durango to Auto Zone to have the codes read, but the guy said their reader won't tell anything about the ABS.
SO. Any input on the above? Am I being told accurate information by people? What is the next step to get this issue resolved?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!
