When you start car and try to put it into drive, you can't get the shifter to come out of park. You can feel the brake pedal in the shifter but it will not come out of park. The interlock will not release. Takes for ever and many tries to get it to go into drive.

The lock cable is probably binding up due to fluid spiullage down the center console at one point. On the center console, remove the side panel on the drivers side. That will give you a better view of the cable. Insert key and turn to position 2. You should see the cable slide. Turn the key back too off and the cable should slide back. If you see it is trying to move but does not, spray some WD40 and clean up all the sticky stuff off. Let the penetrating oil sit there for a few minutes and then turn the key back and forth a few times. That should free up the cable. Let me know what you find.

You were correct with your answer to the problem. Only had the car a few weeks and had no idea as to what caused the problem. Thanks
