I have a 2001 toyota tacoma 2.7 4wd auto trans, the problem is I can't take the key out of the ignition with the battery connected, I took it to the dealer and they tried to tell me the key was bent even though I showed them that once I disconnected the battery the key comes right out. They still insisted it was a bent key .I have the chilton manual and it says the neutral control switch could be out of line but that did nothing either.can anyone help me?

This is due to a fault with the key lock system. The ignition key is not recognising that the transmission is in the park position and it could be due to a faulty Park Neutral Position switch, blown fuse or the PNP switch is out of adjustment.

Try wiggling the gear shift.
