I have a 2001 Saturn L300. The service wrench light came on. I pulled over and turned the car off. After two minutes I turned the car back on and the light was gone. I drove about 7 minutes and it never came back on. This happens every now and again. I wanted to can an emission test in GA on Friday. I will be driving about 40 miles by Friday. Will I pass?

Usually when that wrench light comes on in those in means there is a transmission problem and if you keep driving it with the transmission problem it will destroy the transmission inside.I have seen it happen before. Iam not familiar with your states emissions tests and regulations. Here in California if the check engine light isnt on and there are no codes in the computer and all the engines monitors are set but one as long as you pass the tail pipe readings and your not smoking out the tail pipe and all you emission components are hooked up and correct you pass. The first thing you need to do is have the computer scanned for codes. Let me know the exact code numbers not code descriptions? Most likely you have a code p1811 which means the transmission is going into a protection mode to try to help the clutches from slipping and causing damage to them. The most likely cause is a bad pressure control solenoid.I have replaced tons of them on those cars for that code.
