Fan System Stopped Working Suddenly

When I bought the car a couple years ago, the AC and speed 4 for the vents never worked. No biggy, I can live without both. Out of no where, the speeds 1-3 stopped working. I found a "sweet spot" on the dash that if I gave it a "love tap" the vents would come back on again. This leads me to believe the issue is a short of some kind. I have checked the fuse and it looks fine, it's not cracked. I no longer can get the vents to come back on with the "love tap." When I change the speeds from 1-4, nothing happens. Any ideas on what may be causing this issue? I know it could be a ton of things but I wanted a few ideas so I could possibly fix it myself. If you need more information, let me know. I know this is pretty vague, I just don't know how to explain it any other way. Thanks for all your great help!

Just to add to this one Docfixit the resistor card is on the passenger side under the dash towards the middle of the dash. If you have a multimeter you can test the resistor car and the switch. Do you have one?If so I will help you trouble shoot.

I unfortunately do not have a multimeter. However, when I took it to the mechanic earlier (they started working on the way into the shop, typical), I remember him saying something about a resistor under the dash. This is probably the same one you are talking about, saturntech9. Thank you both for your time and insight. It is greatly appreciated.

Your welcome I would have him unplug the connector to the resistor card and see if there are any open terminals on it I have seen that cause the blower motor to work off and on. Also have seen loose connections to the blower motor also.

Will do. I will check back in when I have time to get it into the shop and let you know what the cause was. Thankfully, it's not to cold out anymore.
