There is a sharp noise in my car's (16V) engine for last few months. There is no smoke or difference in performances. I noticed that earlier, sound comes about two minutes after the engine starts and which disappears when revs above 1500 or 2000 rpm's. Now, the sound comes as the engine starts. I changed the oil couple of days back, 5W60. Is this due to dephaser pulley, hydraulic lifters or any other thing. Please watch the attached video. Any advice, suggestions please? Thank you very much in advance.

Hello,

Nice work on the video makes my job easier :) You have a timing chain guide that has broken and needs to be replaced. I would do the timing chain as well. The job should cost about 700.00 if you where to have it done and about $200.00 if you buy the parts and do it yourself.

Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.

Cheers, Ken
