2001 Pontiac Aztek - The noise goes away while driving or moving the car. Makes a spinning noise while running. Noise goes away while driving?

Did you open hood and look? Could be cooling fan? Hard to say what you mean by spinning sound?

Yes we looked, but can't tell exactly where the noise is coming from. Or also kind of sounds like a whirring noise. It's not really loud either. Just hear it while the car is idle and running. No noise while driving. Just hoping it's not a transmission problem.

Does it matter if car is in park or reverse or drive?(Without moving) does that change the sound in any way?
