I have a 2001 lexus ES300 and will not shift into OverDrive. What could be the problem? and is there an easy solution?

Chances are it is a sensor or the trans control module. Have any warning lights come on?

No, no lights have come on. When you are in Overdrive it just says you're in 4th on the Dashboard. We tried to disconnect the battery with a full tank of Premium gas hoping that would reset the computer codes, but so far that wasn't the solution. Any ideas on how much this could cost to fix? Have to drive the freeway often. Just makes my engine work harder than it should.

It works harder and uses more fuel. It needs fixed. Here is the issue, anything I say without having the trans control module (TCM) scanned would be a guess. Therefore, I have to ask you to have it scanned to determine if there are any codes stored. I hate to say it, but you need to take it to a trans shop or a dealer with the proper scanner to have it done. Once they tell you the problem, let me know and I can tell you what you can expect to pay and if it is something you can do yourself.

Let me know.
