How much Freon was installed? Is the compressor engaging? What are the low and high side readings?

Low side fitting on gauge didn't fit. High side started 40 & went to 75. When on road this morning blowing cool but in town not cool. Seems you have to be out on highway to get it cool.

It's hard for me to tell without knowing the pressures. The high side should be around 150+ and the low side around 45 or 50. I'm concerned to tell you to add Freon without knowing all the facts. To me, it sounds low on Freon.

Thank you. The air conditioner is cooling when on the highway just not very cool in town, but it has been extremely hot and humid. Hoping when the weather cools off it will be ok. If not, will try to find a gauge that fits and get reading we were unable to get. Also, we were out of town when this happened but are back and can take it in to be checked if it continues.

Your symptoms sound like low Freon. Keep in mind, the hotter the weather and more humid it is will change the pressures. Hotter temps cause higher pressures. The ones I mentioned would be for a day that is around 75 degrees F with about 30 percent humidity.
