I shifted into a lower gear as I slowed down and made a turn. I heard a popping sound and now the car is making a grinding noise when driving, even at low speeds. Its almost like something is being dragged. I have not tried to accelerate, because the car starts shaking if I try to do that. At idling, there is very little vibration.
I looked under the car and everything seems to be in place

Looking for some ideas before I take it in somewhere

The combination of symptoms suggest a cv joint is coming apart. There's an inner joint and an outer joint on each side. The outers are just inside the wheels. Look at the accordion boots around the joints. If they're torn or bulged out, suspect that joint. The boots will split long before further damage occurs from the dirt and water that gets in and the grease that sprays out.
