The heater in my 4 cylinder 2001 Honda Civic seems to be working "intermittent" at best. I crank my car 10-15 minutes before I have to leave in the morning so it want be freezing inside when my son and I get into it in the morning. Lately, the heat never gets hot until I am almost to work, 30 minutes later. The heater is blowing, just cold air is coming out. When hot air finally does blow, it will blow really hot air for a while, then all of a sudden cold air again, then warm, then cold, and the cycle continues. I already changed the thermostat in the car when it would never heat up at all and it seemed to help at first, but then a week later it started doing this warm / cold cycle thing. Please advise!- "freezing in the morning in Georgia!"

This happens because yo have air trapped inside the heater core you need to lift the rear end of the car as high as you can with the engine running and the heater on.

Here is a guide to help you

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken

Thank you for the reply. Some said it is the water pump, wouldn't that also mean my car would be running hot? Doesn't the water pump also circulate the water through the radiator and engine too cool the engine?

You are correct the engine will overheat if it was the water pump the air bubble theory I still stand by.
