I own a 2001 BMW 325xi and it only has 66,0000 miles on it. I haven't run into any maintenance problems yet but I just got an oil change the day before I took it for a drive from Ct. To N.C. And before the oil change, the service engine light appeared. The guy that did the oil change from Pep Boys Auto told me not to worry about the light, that it probably is just a warning for the oil change. I took the trip with the light on for the entire drive and had no problems but should I worry or is there a way to just reset it?

If you cant live with it get codes read. You might wanna invest in a code reader that reads BMW proprietary codes. You could try a free read at auto store?

CEL is on? Could be something as simple as the gas cap being left loose, read out the codes and repost straightaway.
