Bad gas smell inside car after pumping gas. What would be the cause and it has nothi g to do with the fuel pump

Check to make sure there are no gas leaks at the filler neck and the tank. If the check engine light is on, have the computer scanned to identify trouble codes. Most likely there will be an EVAP leak.
