My car fails to stay in gear. At first I thought it was my transmission fluid which was really low but after I put in the transmission fluid it still fails to stay in gear. When I put it in drive the whole engine jerks forward like the mount is loose or something and when I drive it the rpm hand normally drops once it reaches a certain number. I don't know much about cars but I imagine that when that hand drops it means that the car switched gears automatically like it's suppose to but now it doesn't do that at all. I'm not sure if I need a new transmission all together or if I just need new gears because the old ones are worn out. Any help at all would be really appreciated.

There is a fault within the transmission a a scan tool should be able to tell you something. It could be a faulty solenoid or valve body.
