we have a 2000 Mercury Villager Estate van. My hubby was driving to work and no warnings...it just died. When we try to restart it....it cranks just doesn't turn over. He is notorious for running it close to empty...it does have gas in it now though. Battery is new. Don't think its the alternator.....possibly could it be the fuel pump? is this hard to replace?

check your fuel pressure if he runs it empty all the time he has probably ruined the fuel pump. it gets lubed from gas. it's about $700 t replace depiending on where you live.
