I replaced the A/C compressor (for a friend) on his 2000 infiniti G20, (the old compressor shaft seal was leaking badly, would not hold Freon for a whole day) The replacement compressor did not have a spot for what I think was a thermal protect disconnect disc, AND the single wire plug was different, so I cut off the plug from the old compressor and soldered the old plug to the new compressor, installed the compressor on the car pulled a vacuum on the system and charged it with oil and 134-a Freon according to the sticker under hood. Now when I push the A/C on button inside the car the inside blower comes on but there is no signal to the A/C clutch relay. I can jumper pins 30 and 87 in the relay plug and the compressor comes on and works fine as long as I turn on the cooling fans with my scan tool. I have also replaced the HVAC control unit in the dash but nothing changed
I even went back and added the thermal disc in line to the clutch just to see if it made a difference, it did not. I checked the 3 wire pressure sensor and found one wire has 5 volts another is showing a ground and the other shows either open or is a return signal wire? The REALLY bad part here is my friend clams it was working before I replaced the compressor. I dont think it was but who knows now!
