2000 Honda Accord car studders and sometimes jumps

Car seems to jump forward when it hits around 3000 rpm and first gear not sure if that's coincidense. It sometime studders like its trying to get power or if it thinks its in nuwtral for a min and then finds power. What is the most common problem and what should I fix or check first? Thanks, Joe
