I have a 2000 ford crown victoria police interceptor. Once the engine warms up (especially when its like 100 degrees outside like today) the car smokes a bit when im heavy on the throttle starting from a complete stop once the engine is warm. It also smokes a few seconds when I first start it up after the engine is warmed up.

When the engine is cold, it does not do it(smoke), and while accelerating it does not do it, unless im at a stop and I start off heavy on the throttle. While coasting and accelerating SLOWLY from a stop, no smoke? ( Oh yeah, the smoke is whitish grey and smells heavily of gasoline. The car burns no oil or coolant? Help!

Car has new O2 sensors, but the catalytic converters have ben cut out. (The problem was occuring when they were still in as well.)

Thanks!

WERE O2 SENSORS BEHIND THE CATS, REMOVED AS WELL?

USUALLY GRAY SMOKE IS OIL--MAYBE MINUTE TRACES OF OIL BEING BURNED

WHITE OR STEAMY IS WATER CONDENSATION/ OR COOLANT FROM POSSIBLE HEAD GASKET LEAKING INTO CYLINDERS AND BEING BURNED AWAY

BLACK SMOKE IS USUALLY FROM UN-BURNED FUEL

YOU CAR RUNS OPEN LOOP AND CLOSED LOOP WITH A COMPUTER

"OPEN" IS WHEN THE CAR GETS OUTSIDE INFO, LIKE FROM "MAP" OR "O2s", THIS IS REAL-TIME RUN EFFICIENTLY INFO

"CLOSED" IS WHEN A SENSOR HAS NOT COME ON-LINE YET, LIKE WHEN YOU 1ST CRANK UP, THE O2s ARE COLD, AND CANNOT SEND INFO TO THE COMPUTER. TO MAKE IT RUN, THE COMPUTER IS SET UP WITH FACTORY "VALUES" (FALSE SENSOR READINGS) JUST TO MAKE IT "RUN", UNTIL ALL OF THE SENSORS START WORKING. IT IS NOT RUNNING EFFICIENTLY! MILEAGE AND PERFORMANCE SUFFER!

IF YOU HAVE DISABLED SOME OF THE SENSORS, LIKE DOWNSTREAM O2s, YOU MIGHT NEVER BE RUNNING IN OPEN LOOP!

I HOPE SOMEONE ELSE ANSWERS THIS ALSO, I DEAL MAINLY WITH OLDER JEEPS AND FORDS. COMPUTER RIGS ARE NOT MY THING EXACTLY

THERE MAY BE A WAY TO "COUNTER" WHAT YOU HAVE MODIFIED. BUT IT IS BEYOND MY EXPERTISE (SORRY!)

The car has new O2 before and after where the catylytic converters were. Only the catylytic converter was removed, not the o2 sensors.

The problem occured before the catylytic converters were taken out. The odd thing is that the car burns no oil or coolant. The whole thing about the computer makes sense.

Could the problem be a fuel mixture issue, considering the car burns no oil or coolant, and if so how could I trouble shoot/what could I replace?

Thanks !

COULD BE!

DOES YOUR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON TO CONFIRM IT WORKS, WHEN CRANKING UP?

IS THE LIGHT ON CONSTANTLY?

REGARDLESS, TAKE IT TO AUTOZONE, ADVANCE AUTO, OTHER. THEY USUALLY CODE FOR FREE! SEE IF YOU HAVE CODES NOW OR HAVE STORED CODES?

WRITE 'EM DOWN. AROUND HERE THE EXPERIENCED PARTS GUYS WILL DIAGNOSE IT FOR YOU. BUT STILL GIVE US THE CODES, SOMEONE HERE (MAYBE ME) CAN GIVE A 2ND OPINION.

A LOT OF TIMES--A COUPLE OF DROPS OF OIL WILL CREATE A SMOKESCREEN! DOING A COMPRESSION TEST MAY ALSO SHOW UP, POSSIBLE RINGS LEAKING--A RADIATOR PRESSURE TEST WOULD ELIMINATE COOLANT

IF YOU GET IT RUNNING GREAT (EFFICIENTLY) NO CODES---FLUIDS STAY UP!----DRIVE IT UNTIL IT DIES. THEN GET A REAL VEHICLE.A REAL JEEP! (PIC IS OF MY #2 DAILY DRIVER, "WILLY", HE'S 65 YEARS OLD)

ALSO PUT YOUR SNOUT DOWN TO JUST ABOUT ANYONE'S EXHAUST, YOU WILL SMELL FUEL
