It isn't supposed to pull. When you let go of the steering wheel, it should go perfectly straight, of course depending on how much the road is slanted. Many people think vehicles are set to pull to the right so you'll go into the ditch instead of oncoming traffic if you fall asleep. That is an excuse some mechanics use if the alignment didn't turn out right. In fact, there are two different adjustments that can be used to cause a slight left-hand pull to overcome "road crown". Road crown is the slant of the road to the right so rain runs off.
You have a problem when you notice a pull that wasn't there before. That could be caused by a tire pull, weak springs, a worn suspension or steering part, or a slipped alignment adjustment. A clue to note is if the steering wheel also changed position. It should be straight when driving on a straight road.
