You're going to have to look under the hood for the source of the smoke. You know we can't see it over a computer. Depending on which engine you have, I'd suspect a seized AC compressor first, based on the multiple symptoms, and a slipping drive belt. If that makes the alternator stop spinning, the chime would be telling you to check the gauges. The voltage, (battery / charging) gauge would be low.
