Do automobiles burn antifreeze during engine operation?

Not when everything is working properly. A leaking cylinder head gasket can cause coolant to leak into the cylinders, be burned, and go out the exhaust as white smoke. That can happen to most newer engines of any car brand but it is not normal operation.
