I need to change the spark plugs

I have a new style 1999 Jetta 2.0 engine. I took the engine cover off, but the intake runners are in the way. Doesn't look too complicated, but I'd just like to know the proper way to get to the spark plugs to replace them.

Remove the wire and use swivel sockets to renove them.

Looks like I have to remove the intake manifold to get to the spark plugs - would I need to buy a new gasket for the manifold as well?
