My father in law's Omega automatic has been unused in the garage for 6 months and the battery is flat. The car is too close to the workbench to open the bonnet and charge the battery. It is in park and there seems to be a lock in the gearshift which won't allow us to take it out of park and move it.
How can we either charge it without opening the bonnet, or release the gearbox and move the car to open the bonnet ?

If you have an owners manual there should be a section to show you the safety lock over ride, otherwise get a trolley jack and jack rear of car move back so you can access battery and re charge.
