I had my car's alternator changed after my car’s battery died on the road. The battery was new, so I had a diagnosis done and was told that it was a bad alternator. After the mechanic disconnected the negative cable and replaced the alternator, he replaced the negative cable, and attempted to jump my battery. When this was done, the dash and hazard lights began blinking along with the ignition signal sounding. The car doesn’t start at all. What can be the issue with my vehicle? If there is anyone that would have an idea what’s going on, please let me know? I use this car for going back and forth to work, and I am at my wits end. Any form of helpful advice would be a great help. Thank you, and happy new year.

Hello, I'm Danny.

It is possible when jumping the battery the mechanic might have damaged the fusible link. Here is a tutorial showing how to check wiring:

Below I've attached two pictures showing the under hood location. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

I found out that it’s a security feature. The hazards blink as well as the dash lights. The alternator works fine, the battery is fine, and there are no crosses wires or wires touching. Everything looks as it did before the issue came up. I had an inspector come out and double check everything and it all checked out fine. I found out about the security feature when I looked online for my issue with the 1999 Nissan Altima. They all stayed that it was something with the brain of the car registering the car is being stolen so it shuts off the engine. My question is, how do I temporarily disable this feature? Most people use turkey fob to do it, but I don’t have one, because I bought it from a private owner. Is there anything that you can tell me about temporarily disabling it?

We bought the vehicle from a private owner a little over a month ago. With the vehicle, we were given a signed title, and two factory keys that work with the ignition, trunk, and doors. We were never given a key fob for the vehicle. When we tried to reach out to the previous owner, his information was nowhere to be found. I’ve reached out to Nissan for a solution, however I received no response as of late. Is there a way to do this if you have no key fob?
