My car has over 100200 miles on it, it has been missing alot like at a stop light it keep wanting to die out, runs good of fwy but when you stop car for light it shakes, recently got a fuel filter installed last month, as well as clean out fuel injectors, add fuel injector cleaning for gas tank once a month and still having the same problem, I notice when I drive that when I am giving the car it feel like it being pushed from the back then goes back and forth, last tune up was about 35000 ago, running out of patience can you please help me out

Does the check engine light come on? If so, start by scanning the computer. This will eliminate guessing. If not, check plugs for good spark at all cylinders. Also check for a vacuum leak and/or a leaking fuel pressure regulator.

I DID NOTICE THAT NEXT TO MY FUEL FILTER THE HOSE THAT GOES FROM THEIR TO THE MOTOR THE HOSE IS ALL CRACKED, HOPING THAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM AS WELL AS CHANGING THE AIR FILTER, AM THINKING ABOUT TAKING OUT THE AIR FILTER FOR RIGHT NOW TIL I GET ANOTHER ONE MAYBE THIS WEEK, BUT AGAIN CAR RUNS GOOD NOW, BUT THERE WOULD BE MOMENTS WHERE IT RUNS BAD AND STARTS STUDDERING AND WHEN YOU GO TO START IT IT TAKES ABOUT 5 TO 6 TIMES TO ACTUALLY START, LETS SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I REPLACE THE PLUGS AND WIRES, THEN THE AIR FILTER AND TRY TO GET THE HOSE REPLACED THIS WEEKEND, AM RUNNING OUT OF GUESSING

Don't take out your air filter! And the cracked hose is connected to fuel pressure regulator not filter. And this will DEFINITELY give you all sorts of problems.

If you have a cracked hose, then replace it. And if you smell gas at back of car, look for a leak. And keep in mind that this could also be from the tail pipe. So you need to make sure that's not what you're smelling.

YEA THE HOSE LOOKS LIKE 3/8 THICK, AND WILL REPLACE THAT, HOW DO I LOOK FOR A GAS LEAK AND WHERE DO I START LOOKING FOR IT AT, I WAS TOLD IT IS FROM THE CADILLAC CONVERTOR AND THE GAS WAS JUST FUMES NOT TO WORRY, ARE YOU IN THE AREA CAUSE I WOULD LOVE FOR YOU TO CHECK OUT THIS PROBLEM CAUSE MY WIFE TAKES THIS CAR TO WORK AND SHE DRIVES THE COMPLETE HELL OUT OF IT, AND WHEN SHE GETS HOME THE CAR IS REAL HOT, AND YOU CAN HEAR IT BREATHING LIKE A RUNNER WHO JUST RAN THE MARATHON, TRYING TO KEEP IT UP BUT ITS SO HARD WHEN WE BOTH USE IT ALL THE TIME, CAN YOU CALL ME IF SO MY PHONE NUMBER IS 562 606 2228, JUST CURIOUS

I'm in North Carolina. As for the leak, you'll have to do a visual inspection with the car on jack stands. There's too many places for a leak to come from. But the converter will usually smell like a rotten egg.

I HAVEN'T NOTICE ANY ORDOR YET BUT I WANT TO FOCUS ON THE HOSE NEXT TO THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR, THEN MAYBE GET AN AIR FILTER TO GO WITH THAT, I ALSO LIKE TO GET PLUGS AND WIRES, BUT LETS SEE HOW MUCH MANY I CAN SPEND, RENT, BUT THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR ADVICE, MY CAR RUNS GREAT, ITS JUST NEEDS MAINTANCE THATS ALL ALSO DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE, MAYBE I CAN GET THE AIR FILTER BEFORE AND HAVE THEM INSTALL THE AIR FILTER, AS WELL AS CHANGE THE HOSE

You can also purchase a repair manual such as "Hanes" or "Chiltons" that will help you keep your car tuned and has many illustrations and helpful procedures. It costs about 20 bucks and will always come in handy and save you money in the long run.

I WENT TO JIFFY LUBE LAST SATURDAY 14TH TO GET THE BASIC OIL CHANGE AND WHEN THEY CAME OUT WITH MY OLD FILTER TELLING ME YOU NEED A NEW FILTER, I BROUGHT OUT MINE, OF COURSE THEY WANTED TO CHARGE JUST TO EXCHANGE IT BELIEVE IT OR NOT BUT THEY DID PUT MY NEW FILTER IN, CAR DID RUN GOOD FOR THAT WEEK BUT TODAY THE 21ST I NOTICED I HAD TO DO A FEW ERRANDS WHICH TOOK ME ABOUT 100 MILES, THEN IT STARTED AGAIN, CAR WAS LIKE I WAS TAKING MY FOOT OFF GAS PEDAL, THEN BACK ON, IT LASTED FOR A FEW MILES BUT I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE THE CAR OFF THE FREEWAY JUST IN CASE IT WOULD STALL BUT WHEN I GOT HOME I KEPT CAR ON AND IT STARTED MISSING BUT WHEN I TURNED OFF CAR, THEN TURNED CAR BACK ON IT SOUNDED GREAT, MY NEXT MOVE IS TO CHANGE THE PLUGS AND WIRES THIS WEEK, WHAT DO YOU THINK

Yes you should do the plugs/wires if it's been a long time. Also did your ever check your EGR and wiring/connector? This will sometimes cause you problems.

And a word of advice, I worked for Jiffy Lube. That is THE most crooked oil change business in america. Not just individual stores but as a franchise as well. Avoid them like the plague.

NO I HAVEN'T CHECKED MY EGR, I AM GOING TO START WITH THE PLUGS AND WIRES FIRST, THEM THE EGR WOULD BE MY SECOND CHOICE, IT FELT LIKE IT WAS MISSING, I WAS ONLY DOING 80 ON THE FWY AND IT WAS DOING REAL GOOD, BUT EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE I FELT THE SURGE LIKE A WIRE WASN'T PROPERLY TIGHTENED, MY OTHER MECHANIC HE WAS SUPPOSE TO COME OVER AND LOOK AT IT, BUT HE GOT HIS INCOME TAX CHECK AND LAST REPORT HE WAS DRINKING REAL HEAVY AND FORGET ABOUT ME ONCE AGAIN, NEED A RELIABLE PERSON WHO CAN HELP ME OUT, TALKED TO THE GUY AT JIFFY LUBE AND HE DIDN'T HELP, JUST WANTED TO LEAVE CAUSE I WAS THE LAST ONE THERE AND HE WAS ALREADY TIRED AND THANKS FOR THE HEAD UPS ABOUT THAT PLACE BUT WHERE CAN I GO TO GET THE OIL CHANGE, ECONO LUBE IS JUST AS BAD AND PEPS BOYS WELL THEY CHARGE JUST TO TALK WITH THEM

I ENDED UP TAKING IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE SUPPOSLY FIXED THE PROBLEM, HE SAID MY PCP VALVE WAS STUCK, AND HE FIXED THE HOSE THAT WAS CRACKED, HE SAYS EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE, ALSO THE PCP VALVE WASN'T WORKING CAUSING IT ALONG WITH THAT VACUUM LEAK FROM THE HOSE TO ACT UP, HE ALSO CHARGED ME 90.00 BUT DID NOTICE A HIGHTER RPM WHEN DRIVING HOME LAST NIGHT, WHAT DO YOU THINK

The rpms are supposed to vary according to what gear you're in, what speed you're travelling and how far the accelerator is pressed.

I have been driving car all day today and car runs better, no hesistation, no stalling, no shaking so far, the idle is quiet now, no smelling of gas after car is turned off, looking at motor with hood up just to see the engine warming up and sounds alot better, I even put the car in drive with brake on just to see the vibration of the car to see if it has the shakes, also open the door just to see if car is shaking but so far nothing, hopefully that was the problem the cracked hose and the pcp valve sticking, its probably the orignial hose and valve, starts up right away as well
