Rottenegg smell 1999 dodge durango 4 wheeldrive, followed by a thud at frontpassenger side of vehicle. Looked under hood to find hose with what seems to be capped with some type of oil in it?

The rotten egg smell is usually associated with the catalytic converter. The hose sounds like a breather for the front differential. Make sure the vent is good and check the differential fluid in the front. Check to see if the smell is coming from the exhaust or from the breather for the differential. Gear lube has a bad smell to it too.
