I have a grinding sound in the tailgate when the automatic locks engage/disengage. Might this be an easy fix? If it is, I may try doing it myself. The tailgate does lock and unlock as expected. The noise is very annoying, however. So, whats the noise from and what do I need to replace? Thanks in Advance.

There was a common problem with the plastic lock motors in the sliding doors causing a buzzing noise. I have a bunch of those, but I never replaced one in the lift gate so I don't know if they use the same part. The motors in the front doors are built into the latch assembly but they can make the same noise.

Start by removing the rear trim panel, then feel the latch assembly while a helper works the locks. If that's where the noise is coming from, replace the latch.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I did replace the Door Lock Actuator and that solved the problem. Thanks for your help on this matter and, Happy New Year!

In my last sentence I should have said, "... replace the lock motor", not the latch. Happy to hear it's solved.
