Hello,
This sounds like an issue with the crankshaft position sensor.
The crank sensor measures the rotation of the crankshaft and sends that signal to the ECM. Over time with heat and vibrations from the engine the sensor can lose its internal calibration. This will trigger error code to the ECM and the engine can shut down.
After the shutdown, the engine may or may not be able to restart.
The Crank position sensor is located on the back of the engine block, below intake manifold.
