Hi I have a 1998 1.3 si nissan micra which has recently started to overheat. I have noticed the fan is not kicking in when this happens. I have checked the fuse and it is ok there is plenty of water in the system, I have replaced the temp sensor on the cylinder head and I have changed the thermostat too. The fan itself can be made to work when wired directly from the battery, but even when wired like this the car if left running starts to overheat still. Can anyone please help with suggestions?

Could be airlock, radiator or a water pump problem -Block and pressure test it to find out more what's going on.

Check the fan switch. It is different from the ECT.
