In the engine compartment or out??

I'm doing an engine swap on my 98' Nissan 200SX(GA16DE/ManualTrans) and it seems it would be easier to pull engine/trans together...swap the trans and re-stab engine/trans as a single unit instead of trying to un-bolt/re-bolt trans inside the engine compartment....what's your opinion?
