Is it comon for a mechanic to break a ABS sensor when the struts are being replaced?

It is not at all uncommon for electrical sensors in an exposed/contaminated area to be at risk for failure when upgrades are performed. A clumsy installer is not excused, ask to see the broken part and a REASONABLE explanation.
