I replaced the V.C. Motor on the front differential. The two wheel drive engages firmly. When I put in the four wheel drive position, the V.C. Motor does not completly engage the front differential. It lacks one half of an inch to completly engage. You can engage the fork in the differential if you push it manualy.

Can you drop off the motor and see if the actuator gets full travel when engaged? Also if you engage and assist the lever will it drive all the way home?

Yes the actuator does get full travel. And when you engage assist lever on the differential, you can drive it in four wheel drive all the way home.

Sounds like the mechanism for the actual engagement is sticky or binding, other possibility is that you have low voltage at the motor, can you check that?
