98 Monte Carlo check engine light

My 1998 chevy Monte Carlo is throwing a code that cannot be shut off. I am not sure what the code is but my mechanic told me it would cost some serious cash to fix and they didn't even bother to diagnose it, what could this possibly be?

When our check engine light wouldn't shut off, I took it to Auto Zone (always great for free diagnostic) and the code was relevant to the tire pressure. Turns out that when non-manufacturer wheels were replaced they didn't replace the sensor and therefore the computer was reading the tire pressure incorrectly. Didn't cause the "check tire pressure" light to come on, though. Go figure!
