How to change Master cylinder

Need to replace the master cylinder and and ABS is bolted to the master cylinder. The manual said that it has to be taken to an shop so they can release the pressure and gear and the run an scan tool on it.

That's a factory "add-on" system meaning the hydraulic controller is bolted to a standard master cylinder. If you simply unbolt it and reattach it to the new master cylinder without turning on the ignition switch everything should be fine. There are three motors / valve assemblies that have to start from "home". That is what they do with the scanner but most of the time it will do it itself.

I believe the gears have to be removed to separate the 2 parts.
