My Toyota just clicks when I connect the battery. It does not do anything when I turn the key.

The 4 runner turned off when I turned the corner to arrive at work. I saw a little bit of smoke and it turned off. I removed the battery connections and when I reconnect them, the truck just clicks loudly with out the keys in the ignition.

The first thing you need to have tested is the battery make sure the battery cables are clean and tight. Once you get that squared away you need to have your alternator tested. Let me know what you find.
