engine fan on, motor will notcrank

i have 1997 t bird 8cly. when i go to crank fans kick on and i have to wait 3 or 4 minutes for them to go off. then it cranks up and runs great. i have changed the temp heat sensors and it still does same thing. thanks

Inspect and test the fan relay could be sticking

Find the fan relay and remove it and see what happens whether it will start up w/o waiting
