I have a 1997 Ford F350 5 speed 4 wheel drive. I had someone replace the clutch a fews months back and they did not put locktite on the driveshaft bolts. Now I have a huge crack in my transfer case and my transmission is toast. Could the driveshaft bolts backing out over time (about 1/4 to 1/2 inch) put enough stress on a transfer case to crack it?

That's a good questiion. I don'lt know but anything is possible on that. If the t-case has a crack in it i'd check for loose bolts there as well as transmission mount. If the driveshaft was loose though it should have vibrated alot which you should have felt. If it vibrated enough then I would be taking a guess that it would crack the case, but it depends where the crack is.
